Cranio-Sacral Therapy at SVFP Cranio-Sacral Therapy at SVFP Florence, one of the volunteers at St. Vincent’s, has been offering CST treatments to families and staff since March 2009. Her sessions are on Thursday mornings, three times per month. As Florence is also a Homeopath, over the past few years she has offered the possibility of Homeopathic treatment to her patients at SVFP. Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a most gentle form of hands-on treatment which is suited to all. CS therapists use a very soft touch during the treatment which induces a state of extreme relaxation in most patients. The body responds very well to this touch and seems to know what needs to happen, where and in which order. CST is becoming known for its use in dealing with trauma, including in young babies who had a tough time during their birth and are struggling to settle. It is safe to use as well and very appreciated by pregnant women or tired new mums. Also, some men and women who come to SVFP have experienced unpleasant events which they cannot easily talk about. CST sessions give their body time to resource to help them deal with their issues in their own time. CST work is quite adaptable to the needs and behaviour of a child. Although it is easier done while they are resting on a treatment couch, reading a story or feeding on a parent’s lap, it is possible to use the CST approach while young patients are playing. With CST, Florence has helped her patients at SVFP with a very wide range of symptoms such as migraines, headaches, back pain, sleep issues, pains from old injuries or fibromyalgia. If you would like to attend a session, please ask a member of staff at SVFP or sign up on the board in the main reception. If you would like more information on both therapies and about Florence’s work, it is available from her website: craniosacral-homeopathy.co.uk.
