Massage Therapist

St. Vincent’s Family Project is looking for a qualified Massage Therapist or a Massage Therapy student who would like to volunteer on Tuesdays during our Drop In sessions. As a Massage Therapist Volunteer you will be providing massage therapies to SVFP’s parents.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • A recognised massage qualification – essential
  • Public liability insurance - essential
  • An ability to relate sympathetically and supportively with people
  • An ability to maintain professionalism
  • The availability to commit to at least one day a week (Tuesday from 10am – 2:30pm)
  • The ability to work well with your hands
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Customer service skills
  • To be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • The ability to work well with others
  • Volunteers joining our team will be required to fill in an occupational health form and undergo a DBS (The Disclosure and Barring Service) check

Benefits: Volunteers are provided with induction, supervision and support. If particular training needs are identified, we will try to accommodate those to the best of our abilities. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to an agreed limit. SVFP will provide a reference on satisfactory completion of volunteering.

Length of Volunteering: It is helpful and beneficial for the volunteer as well as the families if a commitment can be made for at least 6 months.

Probation period 3 months.

Dad's Group Support Assistant

St. Vincent’s Family Project is looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to support our Dad’s Breakfast Club group on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. You will be providing support to the existing staff and volunteers and provide practical and emotional support to the users.

Opportunities of the role:

  • Gain a rewarding experience of working directly with family members
  • Build knowledge of working with families
  • Develop skills to communicate with families

Responsibilities: 

  • Helping with breakfast preparation
  • Preparing play activities for children
  • Planning fun activities for fathers and children
  • Providing emotional support
  • Helping with tidying up

Skills

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds with all sorts of skills but it is essential that volunteers have

  • experience of parenting or childcare
  • Ability to work well with others
  • A good understanding of the role
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliability, commitment and engagement
  • Initiative and creative problem solving skill
  • A good level of self-awareness
