  1. Volunteering & Internship

Volunteer with us!

Why Volunteer with us?

People volunteer for many different reasons.

  • Meet new people- Volunteering can be a great way of meeting new people and making new friends.
  • Gain valuable experience- Students studying child care or social work have found that we are a good organisation to help with their learning process where they can gain practical experience which they can use in their working life
  • Learn new skills- St Vincent’s Family Project want to help you learn and develop new skills and so we provide a full induction  and ongoing training and supervision throughout your time volunteering with us.
  • Flexible- We can accommodate the volunteer roles to fit a time that’s suitable for you according to availability and personal circumstances; from a couple of hours to two days a week. Also, age is no barrier, everyone is welcome!
  • Give back to the local community- The work of St Vincent’s Family Project depends on volunteers to enable us to deliver our services. Without our volunteers, we simply cannot provide the affordable and high quality services we are currently delivering to our families.

As a volunteer you will make a difference in many lives. Volunteers are highly valued at St. Vincent’s Family Project as they contribute to the organisation through their commitment, enthusiasm and support to the families that visit the project.

It has been such a unique experience working with the families that come here... the moment I joined I immediately felt a part of the project

How you can make a difference?

Volunteers carry out a range of roles including:

  • Making our service users feel welcome
  • Child care in the crèche
  • Family support work in the Drop-In Centre
  • Complementary therapies
  • Fundraising
  • Office administration
  • ICT technical support
  • Graphic design and publicity
  • Web design and writing
Wherever possible we match availability, interest and skills to our needs. Whatever people have to offer is appeciated.

What we offer

We appreciate the support of volunteers and in return, we aim to give back to the community. We do this by giving:

  • Ongoing training and supervision
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • Refund of reasonable travel expenses
  • Equal opportunities for employment
  • A reference on satisfactory completion of volunteering

SVFP is proud to partner with ValueYou, the Volunteer Recognition Scheme. All volunteers who have volunteered 100 hours can apply for the ValueYou discount card and receive a free gift. Read more here.

Volunteers are regarded as equally as important as staff and team members.
